Description

This challenging new role has been created to develop and deliver creative and integrated strategies for growing the regional economy for the Waikato, in particular, increasing business and job opportunities and targeted wealth creating sectors. It will be a stand-alone role that will require working closely with business owners, entrepreneurs and funders, to assist emerging businesses, projects and/or initiatives to become investment ready.

To be successful, you will need to develop strong and trusting partnership relationships, and be able to effectively facilitate or lead meaningful collaboration between interested parties. You will also be required to coordinate regional and national funding strategies and channels to support new initiatives.

To be considered, you must have had senior management experience involving investment strategy planning and delivery, ideally with a regional economic/business development focus. A strong and practical understanding of the needs and drivers of central and local government, and entrepreneurial business owners and leaders, is essential. You must be highly skilled in strategic relationship development and management, and be able to engage confidently with politicians and the leaders of influential business and sector groups. It is important that you are a proven strategic thinker and a highly capable project manager, with high attention to detail, supported by excellent oral and written communications skills. You must be able to work autonomously, are well organised and be able to meet challenging deadlines and budgets.

This is a unique role that will appeal to an experienced senior manager with an investment or business growth focus, seeking a new career challenge.
