This represents a unique and exciting opportunity to work with a passionate and committed Council focused on delivering strategies and initiatives for the ongoing development of the District, which comprises of a variety of rural communities, each with their own unique requirements.
The organisation will need to pivot and adapt to an uncertain future with different demands, due to changes in local government legislation, the management of the three waters and the ongoing impact of the pandemic. It will require open and inclusive leadership, a strong team approach and active engagement with all communities in the District.
Key attributes sought for the position include a demonstrated successful history in senior roles at least at Tier 2 within a local or central government environment, a proven ability to engage well with a wide range of community and business groups, supported by excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. You must have an open and trusting manner, be able to attract and grow talented people and shown that you can lead and implement future focused organisational culture change. Strong financial acumen and strategic thinking abilities will also be sought after attributes.
It will also be important that you have a well-founded empathy for diverse cultures and a good understanding of the needs of rural communities, and are naturally interested in being involved in the community outside of your role.
The Council is based in Te Kuiti, the heart of the King Country, which is close to a range of recreational and leisure opportunities.
