This well-established and well-known organisation has diverse business interests, and it is looking to grow its portfolio of investments. The primary reasons why this challenging new role has been created, is to enable the CEO to focus more on strategic business leadership related activities, and be more external facing.
Working closely with, and actively supporting the CEO, you will be expected to lead the “day to day” operational activities of the organisation, as well as become involved in the implementation of strategic deliverables. This will include the project management of agreed initiatives, the preparation of business cases for the Board consideration and ensuring the internal delivery functions for IT and finance are well aligned to supporting business drivers. In addition, you will be expected to inspire and grow the capability of a small, but skilled team.
The Chief Executive is seeking an experienced business leader to work closely with them as their 2IC, to help to strategically grow and position the business for the future. It is important that you are a natural and grounded leader, someone who can engage well with a range of people. You will also be expected to help build the profile of the business, so well-developed networking and relationships skills will be important to be successful in this new role.
It will be a hands-on leadership role, so you will be expected to get involved with operational matters as required, and work the hours needed to ensure deadlines and deliverables are met. It is essential that you have excellent written and oral communications skills, along with high attention to detail and good organisational and planning capabilities. Cultural awareness, and being a strong team player, will also be important personal attributes that you must have.
To be considered, it is essential that you have been a senior manager/executive within a multi-faceted business, and have a strong empathy and ability to work with local communities and businesses. You will need to have well-developed commercial and financial management acumen, along with proven project management skills. Cultural awareness, and being a strong team player, will also be important personal attributes that you must have.
This is a one-off new management role that will provide the right person with the unique opportunity to potentially lead an already highly successful business, and to influence its culture, future growth and development.
