The key focus of this influential Executive leadership role is to ensure the delivery of high quality infrastructure services for the communities living in the Waitomo District. It will include the provision of strategic advice and support for long term asset management planning, along with seeking new and creative ways to deliver cost effective, fit for purpose and sustainable services. In addition, there will be responsibility for overseeing the effective management of Council owned properties, land and facilities. The portfolio of functions is large, diverse and challenging.
Reporting to the Chief Executive, and a key member of the Senior Management Team, you will be expected to be an active contributor to the strategic development of the District, and a visionary leader for the Infrastructure team and wider organisation. The organisation is poised to strengthen its culture, and you will help to lead the enhancing of this. You will also be expected to bring a strong pragmatic and service oriented perspective and rigor to decision making, and the way that the organisation engages with the community.
To be considered for this role, you will need to be a strongly people oriented and relationship manager, an inspirational senior leader with a clear focus on creating a performance culture. It would be an advantage if you have worked as a senior leader in a local government environment delivering infrastructure related services, but demonstrated successful business management and team leadership abilities in another allied sector will be considered. You will need to show that you can form and maintain strong relationships with a range of external stakeholders, including community groups and iwi. It is important that you are a creative thinker and problem solver, are considered and decisive, are customer service oriented, and are well organised. A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering or equivalent is essential. It is important that you have an engaging and likeable personality.
