The key focus of this role is to lead the delivery of high quality customer oriented services in the three waters, roading, solid waste, facilities and associated areas. It will require integrated planning, the focusing of operational teams on the delivery of quality services to customers, and the maintenance of strong relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. The Council have formed a strategic joint venture alliance with Downer, and this role will manage that important relationship. In addition, Council is exploring strategic water delivery options, and you will be expected to actively work with the Council to support their decision making on this.
This team will have a significant influence on the well-being of the communities in the District and will be expected to deliver all planned capital works projects and programmes, respond to service requests and ensure that best practice is consistently applied in the delivery of core services.
To be considered for this role, you will need to be a strongly people oriented and relationship manager, an inspirational senior leader with a clear focus on creating a performance culture. Although it would be an advantage if you have worked in a local government environment delivering infrastructure related services, demonstrated successful business management and team leadership abilities in another sector will be considered. You will also need to show that you can form and maintain strong relationships with a range of external stakeholders, including community groups and iwi. It is important that you are a creative thinker and problem solver, are considered and decisive, are community spirited, well organised and have well developed interpersonal skills. A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering or equivalent is essential.
