The key focus of this influential Executive leadership role is to ensure the delivery of high-quality infrastructure related services for the diverse range of people and communities living in the Waipa District. It will include the provision of strategic advice and support to Elected Members for long term asset management planning and associated decision making, along with exploring new and innovative ways to enhance the cost effective, fit for purpose and sustainable delivery of infrastructure services. In addition, there will be responsibility for ensuring the effective delivery of major planned capital projects.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, and a key member of the Executive Team, you will be expected to be an active contributor to the strategic development of the District, and an inspirational leader for the skilled and experienced Service Delivery team and wider organisation. You will also need to form strong and enduring relationships with the communities in the District, other regional TLAs, key stakeholders and government agencies.

To be considered for this role, you will need to be a natural people oriented and relationship manager, an inspirational leader who can build and support a strong performance culture. It would be an advantage if you have worked as a senior leader in a local government environment delivering infrastructure related services, but you may have demonstrated successful business management and team leadership abilities in another allied sector. You will need to show that you can form and maintain strong relationships with a range of external stakeholders, including iwi. It is important that you have well founded commercial acumen and financial management skills, are a creative thinker and problem solver, are considered and decisive and are strongly customer service oriented. The ability to present well in a governance and public forum, is also highly desirable. A relevant tertiary qualification in engineering or equivalent is essential.
