The Waikato Building Cluster Group is a shared service business focused on strategically growing the capability and quality of Building Unit teams across eight Councils in the Waikato region. There is focus on preparing for the future demands of the region, but recognition of the need to deliver ongoing efficient and legislatively compliant services and advice to customers, including business and homeowners, developers and industry. A priority is growing skilled teams, and the use of technology in service delivery.
This new role, which reports to the CEO of the Waikato Local Authority Shared Services company, has been created to set up and manage the delivery of targeted strategic projects, while ensuring the delivery of quality assurance programmes to meet legislative and policy standards. You will also be expected to lead the marketing and branding of the organisation’s profile regionally and nationally, especially with secondary schools, tertiary providers, national professional building organisations and central government agencies. The ability to engage well with, and actively support Council’s senior managers and their building teams, will be an important part of the role.
To be considered for this role, you will need to have proven senior management experience, including being involved in the planning and delivery of multiple strategic projects, building a business brand and profile, and working with geographically spread and diverse organisations. A professional services and/or building background would be an advantage, but having strong people skills are essential. You must be highly self-driven, well organised and have well developed project management skills. It is essential that you have a relevant tertiary qualification.
This is a rare opportunity to influence the way Councils deliver their building services and support to their customers and to make a business your own.
